INMATE APOLOGIZES FOR HIS OFFENSE
I am in federal custody, being held in the Baldwin County Jail. Register
readers may recall my arrest of a year ago, June 20, 2002, as reported in
the newspaper the following day.
I was charged with manufacturing methamphetamines, a very serious offense. I
have pleaded guilty, and I await sentencing in federal court. Statutory
provisions carry a maximum sentence of 40 years for this offense.
Someone once said, "No one ever learned anything on a good day." I have
experienced many bad days the previous year, and I have learned so much. I
wish to offer my sincere apologies to the people of Daphne and Baldwin
County for making such a volatile substance in their "backyard."
This drug ("crank," "meth," "crystal" ... whichever one chooses to call it)
is absolutely destroying America's heartland. My generation is being
blind-sided by a "high" that is evil and corrupt.
It destroys one from the inside out, like a cancer eating silently at your
soul. My life and the lives of many others were saved the day that the task
force officers found my lab and took me into custody. It has taken many
months for me to see this, but I now commend them for their actions that
day.
I encourage Register readers to stand up and assume a proactive role in
protecting our community and younger generation from the evils of
methamphetamines. The financial gain, acceptance by peers and the lifestyle
associated with this evil are very attractive to today's generation.
Somehow, some way, this "destroyer" must be stopped.
Let me assure you that the narcotics officers in this area are on the job.
However, we must instill the negatives of meth use before it becomes a
matter for the law. Intervention must occur before one is faced with a
federal prison sentence.
I love this area. It is and always will be my home. I am sorry for what I
did. I offer this: If you are in any way involved with methamphetamines, get
help, get out, don't do it.
God bless us all.
