WE NEED NEW IDEAS TO END DRUG CYCLE

It was absolutely appalling to see the way that Biz Ivol was brought
to trial in her high-profile cannabis case which was then abandoned by
the Crown.

I think that this was the worst possible handling of this case for
those involved and for the Scots legal system.

The Scottish Executive keeps coming up with new initiatives on drug
abuse, but they all add up to the old failed ideas with new names.

The time has come for some clear new thinking on the drug
problem.

Selected areas should hold trial schemes with drugs prescribed to
registered users through doctors.

This would protect the welfare of the abuser and break the supply
chain of evil drug dealers - and end all the crime that comes with
them.
