FELONY DRUG CONVICTION WAS BATTLE CRY FOR ACTIVISTS

In response to a letter, Journal, July 3, "Court was right to make drug
charge a felony."

"By now, all of us have had the opportunity to know that drug use supports
Saddam Hussein and his cohorts."

If Steve Kubby is so dangerous why did he immigrate to Canada with the full
consent of the Placer County court that convicted him? Why now, after two
years, did the government push a dead horse like this?

Steve Kubby is a productive citizen fighting for his life and rights every day.

It would seem that Steve Kubby's bid for governor, his efforts to end drug
prohibition, were the source of this legal attack. His message to the
cannabis community about his fight for life and our right to use cannabis
as medicine is now heard worldwide.

These are the true reasons why Steve Kubby was convicted on this charge. It
would seem that Steve is a victim of his own success. Put the guy in jail
so he dies. Problem solved. So a felony conviction is no surprise to me
under these circumstances.

I agree prohibition supports terrorist and subversive elements of our
government. The huge profits to be made prompt organized crime, and
(prompts) our government to make Americans slaves to drugs; and if you are
not a slave to drugs, you suffer a loss of liberty.

"They that can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary
safety deserve neither liberty nor safety," Benjamin Franklin, Historical
Review of Pennsylvania, 1759.
