Dear Editor:

Thank you for publishing Matthew M. Elrod's outstanding letter, "Marijuana
talk," in the June 27 edition.

I noticed with special interest a quote from Mr. Elrod: "When cannabis use
goes up, alcohol and other drug use goes down..."

I'm sure this has not escaped the notice of manufactures of alcoholic
beverages. Perhaps the policy of cannabis prohibition continues because of
the large financial contributions from the beer industry into the campaign
coffers and pockets of our politicians.
