FELONY WAS UNFAIR; KUBBY HAS NO TERRORIST CONNECTION

In response to the letter, "Court was right to make drug charge a felony"
Journal, July 3: Is persecuting Steve Kubby a ploy to distract the public
from another government failure? Please don't persecute cancer patients out
of frustration, that's un-American. Steve Kubby's marijuana use mitigates
the deadly effects of a rare form of adrenal cancer. Despite his illness
and the added stress of countless court appearances, he has survived will
beyond what his doctors predicted. Now a simple possession charge has been
changed to a felony two years after his trial ended. The U.S. has made his
claim of political persecution well-founded. To make matters worse, someone
has sunk so low as to suggest support for Saddam Hussein and his cohorts.
Nothing could be further from the truth, since Steve Kubby gets his
marijuana from his legal home garden with permission from Canadian authorities.
