REEFER MADNESS
Once again, Marc Emery, the Prince of Pot, has been arrested, this time in
Regina.
All citizens of our fine country should be outraged that scarce law
enforcement resources are being wasted like this.
Marijuana is less harmful than alcohol or tobacco -- several recent court
judgments across Canada have reflected this reality.
Justice Stephen Rogin in the Ontario Court of Appeal declared, on May 16 of
this year, that there is no longer a marijuana offence known to law.
Do the citizens of Canada really want millions of their tax dollars wasted
enforcing a dead law? Do the citizens of Canada really believe that
cannabis possession is so harmful as to justify the criminalizing of over
two million otherwise law-abiding and contributing members of our society?
I think not.
It's time for this madness to end.
