STAND UP FOR THE TRUTH
IT'S A shame no one listens to the Senate. Senator Tommy Banks has told the
real truth in his statement about marijuana law being an emotional and
political issue ("Senator Banks mellows out on marijuana," July 16). "Facts
go out the window..." he said.
That's what the common man resents most about government - that decisions
are made for reasons of image and re-election potential, rather than facts.
As for the American border problems, we'll have them anyway. The U.S. is
moving deeper into a protectionist and isolationist phase. Better to suffer
a while and show the Americans we stand up for the truth rather than cringe
and obey.
Mack Mcleod, Thornhill, Ont.
(Ottawa's pot policy is disjointed.)
