NDLEA ARRESTS 31 DRUG SUSPECTS IN BAUCHI
At least 31 drug suspects were arrested by the Bauchi zonal command of the
National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) between January and July.
Malam Bello Mandawari, the spokesman of the command, told the News Agency
of Nigeria (NAN) in Bauchi at the weekend that 26 of the suspects had
already been convicted.
Mandawari said substances suspected to be hard drugs, weighing about
97.345kg, were also confiscated during the period, pointing out that Indian
hemp formed the bulk.
He said the command had rehabilitated 40 drug addicts through its Demand
Reduction Unit during the period, a feat he attributed to the dedication of
officers of the command.
"The command is ever ready to get rid of drug dealers and couriers in the
society", he stressed.
