BOOZE: THE ULTIMATE DATE RAPE DRUG?

Re: Drugged drink claim questioned (July 30).

Though the term 'drugged drink' is admittedly redundant; the article aptly
noted that in the vast majority of suspected cases, the 'date-rape' drug is
not a powder applied in a sinister manner by an unknown rapist.

Rather, it is most commonly a case of the victim overindulging in history's
most commonly used date-rape drug and that's alcohol. For a woman of
average build, consuming six or more drinks within a few hours can produce
blackouts and a loss of control needed for her to be exploited.
