POLICE ARREST WOMAN AFTER FINDING 56-POUND MARIJUANA PLANT IN YARD

A 31-year-old woman was arrested yesterday after Toledo police reported
finding a large marijuana plant growing in her backyard.

Kimberly Ann Newby of 1936 Michigan St. was charged with cultivating
marijuana after officers found the 56-pound plant about 11:30 a.m., police
said.

Sgt. Richard Murphy said he received information about the plant and went
to investigate with assistance from officers and the department's vice squad.

Sergeant Murphy said Ms. Newby would not allow officers into her home but
allowed them into the backyard, where they found the plant.

"It was the biggest plant I have ever seen," said Officer Tim Stedman.
