MORRIS SHOULD FOCUS ON SOLVING MURDERS

I have a difficult time comprehending the brusqueness of Kanawha County Chief
Deputy Phil Morris for the family members of the three shootings there. ("Drug
Link Probed In Kanawha Shooting," Aug. 21).

"If the murders are determined to be drug related, the shooter could face the
death penalty if charged with the federal crime of causing death in relation to
drug trafficking," Morris said.

Since when has murder not been murder unless drugs are involved? Hoping for the
death penalty could clearly influence the families' statements.

Morris should focus on solving the murders, not on speculating about the
motive.
