JAIL TERM IS 30 YEARS

Miami: Colombian drug lord Fabio Ochoa, a former leader of the notorious
Medellin cocaine cartel, was sentenced Tuesday to more than 30 years in prison
for plotting to ship tons of cocaine to the United States.

U.S. prosecutors in Florida had indicted Ochoa and 42 others in 1999 on charges
of conspiring to ship up to 30 tons of cocaine a month into the United States
from 1997 to 1999. He was extradited to the United States in 2001.
