TEST RESULTS RELEASED IN VESTAL DEATH
The San Luis Obispo County Sheriff's Department released some results of a
toxicology report performed on Jay Anthony Vestal, who died while being
arrested by sheriff's deputies on Aug. 18.
According the department, the presence of nontherapeutic drugs were
detected in Vestal's toxicology report.
The department also confirmed that the following deputies were on duty and
were at the scene of the incident regarding Vestal. They are: N. Clayton,
G. Dayton, M. Gunter, M. Murphy, D. Nottenkamper and R. Reece. Gunter and
Nottenkamper were identified as occupants of the third patrol car that
responded to the incident. Based on the investigation, their role in the
event was found to be minimal and the two were restored to full, active
duty, the department reported. The other four deputies remain on
administrative leave pending further investigation.
