THE D.O. FINALLY ADDRESSED A DRUG POLICY ISSUE
Thank God The D.O. finally addressed a drug policy issue. Those of us
in the drug policy reform arena know all too well the recent conflicts
between our federal government and state and Canadian
governments.
The Federal Drug Enforcement Agency, under an administration that once
preached more states rights on the 2000 campaign trail, has no qualms
about ignoring state legislation. My prediction: Alaska may be the
next target of DEA harassment.
The editor brings up a great point. U.S. marijuana policy has to catch
up to the modern world. College-age people that know the marijuana
stigmas and that the "gateway" theory is bullshit need to get
involved. Lack of public concern, especially student political
empathy, is the main reason for lack of change.
