COLD MEDICINE

To The Editor:

My fiancee and I went to Wal-Mart to get some cold medicine, as well
as some household supplies. We picked up some Infant Pedia Care,
Infant Robitussin, Theraflu, and Tylenol Cold, just enough medicines
to treat our whole family. When we got to the checkout, my fiancee
decided to buy the cold medicines. However, much to our surprise he
was told that he couldn't by the Tylenol Cold medicine because he was
"over his limit".

We were baffled on why there was a limit on cold medicine but he said
fine and handed the Tylenol Cold medicine to me. A manager came over
and took the Tylenol Cold medicine away from me and told me that I
couldn't buy it because I was with him (and she pointed at my
fiancee). Shocked, I told her that I didn't purchase any cold medicine
and since he was buying the Tylenol for me, I decided to purchase it
instead. She then grilled us, like we were junkies and kept saying it
was against the law to sell me the Tylenol. Now I am 28, and my
fiancee is 33. We are both of legal age to drive, vote, buy cigarettes
and alcohol but for some reason it's against the law to sell us cold
medicine?

After arguing with her for at least 10 minutes, I purchased the
medicine and we left. We then called several pharmacies to see if
there was such a law on not being able to buy four cold medicines, and
nobody had heard of it. So if you have more then three people in your
family, and they all need cold medicine, don't expect to purchase it
at Wal-Mart because they will treat you like you are a criminal. Or
maybe it just had something to do with the fact that my fiancee has
long hair. And here I thought Wal-Mart was called the family store.
