ILLEGAL DRUG USERS SUPPORT TERRORISM, DESTROY THEMSELVES

As the country remembered the victims of the terrorist acts of Sept.
11, 2001, on its two-year anniversary yesterday, many of us pondered
what role we may play in the war against terror.

If you use illegal drugs, even marijuana, you may be supporting the
enemy with every toke.

According to the White House's National Youth Anti-Drug Media
Campaign, 12 of the 28 terror organizations identified by the U.S.
Department of State in October 2001 traffic in drugs, and drug income
is the primary source of revenue for many of the more powerful
international terrorist groups, including Osama Bin Laden's Al Qaida
network, which was responsible for the 9/11 attacks.

In addition to the acts of the terrorist groups themselves, drug
traffickers use brutal criminal means to achieve their ends, including
gruesome public killings, large scale bombings intended to intimidate
governments, kidnapping and torture.

As state sponsorship of terror groups by rogue countries declines,
terrorists are relying more heavily on drug money to fund their
heinous acts.

Even common drug pushers engage in other, more violent illegal
activities, up to and including murder, to further their underhanded
business ventures.

The combined global force of drug traffickers and terrorist groups
threatens America's national security as well as its youth.

Parents, teachers, law enforcement officials, members of the clergy
and community leaders have long tried to teach children that drugs are
dangerous to the individual, but many people still consider drug use
as a "victimless" crime.

Tell that to the survivors of the 9/11 tragedy.

The purchase and use of illegal drugs not only destroys the user
physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually, but has widespread
negative consequences for people around the world.

Drug users are killing themselves to promote terrorism.

Put that in your pipe and smoke it.
