POLICE MORALITY COUNTS

Robert Sharpe, like many others, likes to blame the war on drugs for
the failings of individuals rather than recognizing that its their own
greed or the lack of either morality or character that causes them to
do what they do ("Stop drug war from causing problems for Detroit
police," Sept. 7). "Good cops" may not be immune from the profit
motive as he says, but "good cops" don't steal. Thousands of honest
Detroit police officers are maligned by Sharpe's statement. Let's be
honest, "good cops" resist the temptations to do wrong. It's the bad
cops who don't.
