COCAINE A SCOURGE, HAMILTON OFFICER SAYS
Crack cocaine is a scourge that will be met head-on, Hamilton's future top
police officer said yesterday. Brian Mullan, 49, now deputy police chief,
will take over from Chief Ken Robertson by Nov. 1.
Crack cocaine is a "societal issue, but we definitely will be shifting into
an intelligence-based policing mode to deal with the problem," he said.
"It's not only deteriorating and undermining the basic fabric of family and
society, but it's also driving the robbery, break-and-enter and theft from
auto statistics."
