A SAFER WORLD

It is now a safer world. I am referring to an article titled, "Chong bonged
with jail time" (Times, Sept. 12).

Thanks to hard-working police officers, prosecutors and a tough-minded
judge, we finally have Tommy Chong safely locked away.

Society, we all know, will be much safer, because with Chong loose on the
streets, there is no telling how many people might have started smoking
marijuana.

The fuzzy-headed liberals may think the thousands of tax dollars spent to
prosecute and lock away Chong could have been spent on such things as
school books and teacher salaries.

However, we should never forget that the government knows best. The CEO of
Enron is a free man, but at least we finally have Chong behind bars.

We need to continue to support our government in the spending of billions
of tax dollars every year for the drug war. It's what makes America great.
