WAR ON DRUGS
New Zealand seems intent on following the US in fighting a war on
drugs, despite the complete failure of this approach in America.
New Zealand is making the same mistake by attempting to seize more
drugs and imposing harsher penalties for drug makers and sellers. The
results of this approach in the US are record-breaking incarceration
rates, overburdened courts, drugs being sold predominantly by minors
who can't be imprisoned, and huge profits for organised crime.
Standing up against drugs is a vote-winner in the middle class
demographic -- the only reason for such a pointless war.
Why doesn't anyone else in the world have a P problem? And why does
Holland have one of the lowest rates of serious drug abuse in the
world? Go figure.
