ADDICTIONS CAMPAIGN HAS STUDENTS CREATE PROJECTS
TO SHOW HARMFUL EFFECTS OF DRUGS

The Order of the Royal Purple awarded students at J.C.Charyk school
in Hanna as well as at Youngstown school with certificates and
cheques as part of their drug awareness campaign.

Kathy Sieppert (seen in all photos) and Rolly Aitken (seen in
Youngstown photos) handed out the awards on May 28 at both schools.

Students wrote essays, designed posters or filmed videos that related
to the theme of addictions.

First place winners in their category won $50, second place won $40
and third won $30.

At the provincial level, students from both Hanna and Youngstown won
awards. Kassidy Lockhart won third in the intermediate poster
contest, winning $50. Ashley Cheney won third in the senior poster
contest, winning $75. Tim Armstrong, James Frobb and Taylor Tolton
won $250 for winning first place in the senior video contest.

Armstrong, Frobb and Tolton also won first place at the national
level for their video, which won them another $300.

Youngstown school also received an award in recognition of their
support of the drug awareness program and their efforts to increase
awareness of the harmful effects of addictive behaviors.

Drug addictions have serious consequences for both addicts and their
families. The members of the Royal Purple have been working across
the country to make students more aware of the harm addictions can do
to their lives.
