OPP OFFICER CHARGED WITH CONSPIRACY

Law and Order

The Ontario Provincial Police arrested one of its own officers
Tuesday, after an investigation into allegations that police
information was released for an illegal purpose.

Det. Const. Scott Duguid, 32, faces several charges, including breach
of trust, conspiracy to unlawfully produce a controlled substance,
obstruction of justice, and unsafe storage of a firearm.

The eight-year veteran has been suspended from duty, pending the
outcome of the case. He had been working with the Huronia Combined
Drug Enforcement Unit in Barrie.

Two Peterborough men also face charges in connection with the
case.

Jamie Allan Proctor, 27, and his brother, Jody Thomas Proctor, 25,
have been charged with conspiracy to unlawfully produce a controlled
substance and breach of probation.

They were being held for a bail hearing.

Duguid was released on bail Tuesday. He was ordered by a justice of
the peace to appear in Barrie's Ontario Court of Justice on Oct. 22.
