BLATANT DRUG DEALER ARRESTED AFTER STING
Security doors were torn from a west Auckland tinnie house before police
stormed inside to arrest Darcy Edward Davis, just hours after the Sunday
Star-Times revealed the extent of his drug dealing.
It is understood police made the raid after an under-cover officer bought
drugs from the apartment identified in the Star-Times last week.
The deal would have been done within hours of Davis calling the Star-Times
to say he thought our report was "a nice article".
He was attempting to arrange an interview.
But police struck before he had the chance. A team of about 20 officers
raided the apartment after confirming it was still being used to deal.
Using sledgehammers, the security door was ripped from its hinges and
officers stormed the flat.
Davis was running his operation in a suburban Henderson shopping area,
across the road from Bruce McLaren Intermediate school.
Davis has been charged with supplying cannabis. The charge was laid to
cover a period of time, saving the police the administrative problem of
laying more than 200 separate charges.
"We've had a lot of calls from people to say 'thank God the place has been
shut down'," said police.
"They say there are children out playing in the street again already."
Darcy has been remanded in custody and will reappear in court on October 7.
