A WORD OF WARNING FROM A MAN BEHIND BARS

For a quarter of a century I have hidden behind the concept of victimless
crimes. I chose to use drugs. I am an addict. No excuse or rationalization is
valid.

My family members are the victims - three relationships and three sons, an
18-year-old I hardly know, a 15-year-old I have let down repeatedly and a
7-year-old I have not seen for over two years, as well as my mother who has
endured it all.

I am sitting in a minimum security prison dorm. I am receiving drug treatment
at the Waiawa Correctional Facility's KASH BOX program (knowledge, attitude,
skills, habits, behaviors, opinion and the unknown (X factor). I am taking
responsibility for my actions.

If you are considering using drugs, don't. If you already are using drugs, get
help and stop. Your family members are the victims. There are no victimless
crimes.
