A CURIOUS COMPASSION

Re: Ashcroft: Go for more jail time.

The United States of America, already the winner of the title as the
nation with the most incarcerated citizenry in the world, needs more
people in our prisons, already filled to capacity. So says our
"compassionate conservative" Attorney General John Ashcroft in a
letter to his 93 U.S. attorneys. Then he could order more jails for
his Republican governors, to the cheers of all Republican voters. By
their compassion shall ye know them.
