MELLOW OUT, MAN

I gather from Howie Carr's column that he is not a proponent for the
decriminalization of marijuana, and wasn't likely waving a pot leaf flag at
the Freedom Rally ("Hub police must end the reefer madness," Sept. 19). He
labeled advocates for the cause "dirty, scraggly losers, hippies and
freaks." That is tantamount to calling those flocking to bars, nightclubs
or sporting events alcoholic bums.

I can speak for the collective Freedom Rally supporters and say that we
didn't ask Howie to light up, we just want him to lighten up.
