REEFER MADNESS
What a great lesson Kieran King learned when he
tried to present his findings about the relative dangers of alcohol,
nicotine and cannabis: In the battle between truth and perception,
perception wins every time, and woe to anyone who tries to buck the
system. Coincidentally, you reported in the same issue of your paper
that a Health Canada scientist, Mark Richardson, was abruptly
reassigned for endorsing the use of bisphenol A. Good heavens! How
does he expect his department to run a decent scare campaign when he
says things like that?
But one thing puzzles me. With all these chemicals, pesticides,
preservatives, toxins and non-organic foods, why are we living longer?
