GOVERNMENT LOSING OUT

Re "Growing like weed," staff writer Seth Robbins' June 17 story about
suburbs being the new hot spot for pot growers:

Are we supposed to be surprised that when government policy makes an
easy-to-grow weed almost as valuable as pure gold, lots of people will
take advantage of the situation?

If marijuana were legalized, our government could collect billions of
dollars in taxes instead of throwing billions of dollars down the
drain in our futile attempt to nullify the law of supply and demand.
