TO THE EDITOR: In response to Christopher Largen ("Your Views," Oct. 5),
George McMahon is lucky. He was one of the first people allowed to legally
possess marijuana for his medical condition. There would be many more if
the first President Bush hadn't discontinued this program. Only McMahon and
four other people can now legally smoke marijuana in this country. Be
aware: If you're using this herb for a medical reason in Oklahoma, you
won't be able to tell that to your jury. There's no medical exclusion in
our law.
