STATE AGENT TO DISCUSS IDING METH LABS

Special Agent Scott Duff of the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Identification and
Investigation will present "Identifying Methamphetamine Users and Meth Labs"
next Monday at the Athens County Children Services building.

"Methamphetamine production and its use is a terrible problem that threatens
children and entire neighborhoods, not just the individual creator or
abuser," Children Services Director Scott Ferris said in a news release.
"I'm glad we can provide this free training, as it promises to be a
tremendous help in the battle for a safe, clean and drug-free community."

Special Agent Duff has adapted this training for social services staff who
perform home visits as part of their employment, but this presentation also
will be geared to the public. Topics to be covered are the history of the
meth problem, symptoms and effects of meth usage, statistics, how to spot a
meth lab, methods and materials used in the production of meth, lab cleanup
procedures, law enforcement professionals' perspective of the meth problem,
the importance of participation by retail stores in the meth prevention
effort, and meth's effect on children.

Duff will present two two-hour sessions. The first starts at 9:30 a.m and
the second session begins at 1:30 p.m. Both sessions will be held at Athens
County Children Services, 14 Stonybrook Dr., Athens.
