BOMBASTIC HYPOCRITE
Re: "Don't rush to condemn," Oct. 16 editorial.
Following Rush Limbaugh's journalistic faux pas and subsequent
confession of drug addiction, it's important to bear in mind two
unalterable facts: (1) He is a bombastic, intolerant hypocrite; and
(2) He is an admitted criminal and junkie. Because he has great
wealth, he was able to obtain drugs easily, but we can only guess to
what extremes he may have bent if he didn't have that financial
advantage. What is the difference, after all, between Rush Limbaugh
(or former Denver Bronco Bill Romanowski) obtaining drugs with
fraudulent prescriptions, and some poor schmuck serving a prison
sentence for check forgery? I don't buy into the heart-rending "became
addicted to pain killers following surgery," because we've all been
there. And the pain following surgery is no less tolerable than the
"pain" most addicts live with everyday.
