STEREOTYPES AND EXAGGERATIONS
In chastising Prime Minister Jean Chretien for going soft on pot, Jose
Rodriguez (Oct. 10) relied not on facts, but instead resorted to
stereotypes and exaggerations to further his anti-marijuana agenda. I
don't know who he's gotten stoned with lately, but the stoners with
whom I've shared a joint over the last 30 years, seldom if ever lapsed
into "awkward stoner silence" or grown sullen and morose. I think
mellow is the word that comes to mind, but only after hours of good
conversation followed by a robust hike and a yogurt shake. Rodriguez
has obviously been watching too many Cheech and Chong movies.
