LIMBAUGH HAS CHANCE TO REDEEM HIMSELF

While Rush Limbaugh has recently removed himself from his position as a
sports commentator as a result of remarks he made regarding the media's
penchant for making more to do about black quarterbacks, he also has found
himself under investigation for the illegal purchase of prescription
painkillers.

Before rushing to judgment regarding these latest charges, as no one yet
knows whether the charges are true, let's give Limbaugh the opportunity to
redeem himself.

Limbaugh has, in the past, been a fervent supporter of the "war on drugs."
Although he may not be guilty, he's about to find out what it's like to
become a "person of interest" to those who would dictate what substances
citizens may or may not smoke, snort, inject or consume whether for medical
or recreational reasons.

If he's not guilty, great. But it should make Limbaugh more aware of just
how helpless innocent people feel when they find they are the target of an
increasingly oppressive police apparatus built for the purpose of
prosecuting the war on drugs.

Guilty or not, Limbaugh is now in a position to rethink his support for the
most expensive, unconstitutional, intrusive and, ultimately,
anti-conservative federal drug enforcement regime. Should he do so, perhaps
he will begin to urge his audience to do the same.
