JUDGEMENT FROM THE LEFT

I have been a listener of Rush Limbaugh for many years. I am disappointed
that he would be involved in obtaining prescription painkillers illegally.
However, I am compassionate of the physical pain that led to his addiction.

I would, however, like to point out that Limbaugh has not wavered on his
drug-strategy views. Any one who has listened to Limbaugh for any length of
time would know that the quote mentioned from March 12, 1998, was not meant
to be taken literally. Limbaugh frequently uses absurdity to point out the
absurd. His comments must be taken in the context of the discussion at the
time regarding states suing Big Tobacco.

The states were wanting to use the money from tobacco suits to fund health
care for children. Limbaugh was pointing out the absurdity of all of the
anti-tobacco rhetoric and then needing the funds from the taxes from the
product's sale for the state budget. He was comparing this to the equally
absurd idea of legalizing drugs and then taxing them for our revenues.

The left seems to be very quick to judge Limbaugh. Where is all the
compassion and praises it has heaped on other brave drug addicts that have
gone into rehab? Does the name Robert Downey Jr. come to mind?

I hope and pray that Limbaugh will have the strength to beat this, and I
look forward to listening to him again.
