DISCRIMINATION GOES BEYOND POOR
Cynthia Tucker points out that when it comes to addiction, the wealthy
get treatment and the poor get time. This applies not just to
addiction treatment, of course.
The mentally ill who are homeless often end up in jail for minor
offenses because they are nuisances. And anyone without health
insurance may end up even worse off: Poor people have poor health
outcomes and are more likely to die from their illnesses.
But according to Rush Limbaugh and other apologists for right-wing
policies, the rich deserve all that they have because they work so
hard. The poor are lazy and undeserving. Who pays attention when a
pauper is buried anyway?
Unfortunately, everyone has to watch as Limbaugh goes through his
ordeal.
