REEFER MADNESS
Imagine writing an article straight out of Reefer Madness and getting it
published in The Globe in 2003. (Lax Pot Laws Lure Criminals to Canada,
Police Suggest -- Oct. 28). With no connection between the shootings at
Queen and Ossington streets (a truly shocking event) and marijuana use and
trafficking, Staff Inspector Gary Ellis decides to take a shot at marijuana
users as the monster in the woodpile of crime in Canada.
I think Staff Inspector Ellis has the story askew; if we legalized
marijuana there would be no criminal profit to be made from growing this
most benign herb.
