MERCIER WAS 'RIGHT ON' IN FRAMING NATION'S DRUG PROBLEM

Rick Mercier's column on Rush Limbaugh ["Let's hope Rush will see that
the Right is wrong on the drug war," Oct. 15] was excellent. It would
be wonderful if Mr. Limbaugh would change his thinking, but I believe
that is a long shot.

I would encourage you to have Mr. Mercier follow up this article with
one that is more detailed on the cost issues regarding our current
drug policy. Increased insurance costs, home and business security,
and loss of productivity come to mind. Perhaps the economic view would
have some im-pact on Mr. Limbaugh and those who think much like him.

Please consider this and keep up the excellent work you do at the
newspaper.
