DRUGGIES ENDANGER INNOCENT BYSTANDERS
Those involved should see harm they bring upon others.
If Roberta and Dominic St. George had been standing in their living room
Wednesday evening at 8, instead of sitting, they would have been innocent
victims of a gang-warfare shooting, they say.
John Need, too, could have been wounded or killed by the bullets that
smashed a window of the house of John Need.
If anyone had been sitting at the table or in the chair for the computer of
Quinta Krombel, she said, "they would have been hit."
And, it's lucky no one was in a car parked across the street from Krobbel's
home. Three times, it was hit by bullets.
A shootout on North Main Street in Wilkes-Barre sounded the too-well-known
alarm about drug activity in area neighborhoods -- and brought to awareness
one more.
As always, the case calls for the tracking down of the shooters, their
arrest and prosecution.
Additionally, however, this case shows that those involved in illegal drug
activity -- dealers and users -- are endangering not just their own lives,
but the lives of innocent people.
If Mr. or Mrs. St. George, or John Need, or Quinta Krombel had been killed
by one of the many gunshots fired Wednesday night, it would have been a
crime and a tragedy of the worst order.
If they will not do it for their own sake, those involved with illegal drugs
should -- if they have even a shred of decency -- now see the harm they
bring upon others.
