A HALLOWEEN LESSON ON HOW ALCOHOL, OTHER DRUGS MIX POORLY WITH

Dillingham students walked into a Sherman Police Department Special
Response truck Friday to view a staged Halloween scene of fog and
black lights. But, the underlying message of the scene was not to
spook the children, but to warn them about the hazards of drinking and
using drugs.

As students entered the truck, Sherman Police Officer D.M. Hampton
gestured toward a Dillingham theater arts student who was dressed as a
corpse.

"If you drink and drive or do drugs," Hampton said, "the last person
to tuck you in at night could be a paramedic. Don't let drugs and
alcohol destroy your life."

As students exited the truck, the corpse abruptly sat
up.

Dillingham students visited the display, sponsored by the PTA and the
Sherman Police Department, during their lunch period, and reached into
the trunk of a Volkswagen Bug for Halloween candy on their way back to
class.
