WILL RUSH LEARN FROM HIS FAILINGS?
Rush Limbaugh made some stupid decisions, and he was weak, and he screwed
things up for himself.
Well, guess what -- that's what human beings do sometimes. We feel sorry
for Rush.
He always seemed to feel such joy when someone who disagreed with him made
stupid mistakes and was humiliated in public. And while they were down, he
would gleefully jump on them with both feet. That's why the urge to give
him some of his own medicine has been almost irresistible. And we've been
weak, and we've given in to it at times.
But the fact is, we hope he is able to overcome his addiction and come back
better and stronger than before. Maybe even learn something about human
failings, and gain some much-needed humility from it.
Meanwhile -- and we're not proud of this -- we have to confess to taking
some pleasure ourselves out of watching some of Limbaugh's fellow moral
absolutists squirm and backfill and try to rationalize that, um, actually,
um, in some cases, uh, a drug addict actually is a victim, and needs, er,
understanding, not vilification, and....
