PEOPLE SHOULD STAND UP FOR WHAT THEY BELIEVE IN INSTEAD OF JUST COMPLAINING
Often, people complain and whine about issues they are against without
ever once lifting a finger to do something about it.
They write anonymous comments on Web sites and rant loudly with
friends, but they never take the time to initiate change.
Unlike these people, a group of students have decided to go beyond
complaining and take action for something they believe in. UNC
students have started a chapter of NORML, a group which promotes
marijuana awareness and advocates its legalization.
Besides just protesting marijuana opposition and stressing their
views, the organization's members are focused on raising awareness and
educating those who know little about the drug.
Although the legalization of marijuana is a controversial issue, this
group has taken it upon itself to be a voice when others are merely
bystanders. The Mirror commends their activism and encourages other
students who feel strongly about an issue to take a stand and do
something about it.
Despite barriers and obstacles, there is more respect in rising with a
few than sitting stagnant with the many.
