HIGH SCHOOL DOPE

WELLINGTON CTY. - There have been more drug problems than usual at high
schools in Wellington County since the new term began.

The Wellington OPP Youth Liaison Officers for high schools laid several
charges during September.

OPP Constable Jennifer Smith reported there were 40 drug related incidents
in high schools during that month. Thirty-two cases were for possession of
a drug, five for trafficking, and three were for other related drug
infractions.

There were also 34 criminal offences reported, 13 trespassing offences, 8
Highway Traffic Act infractions and 3 Liquor Licence Act offences.

During the same month in 2002, there were 5 criminal offences and 3
trespassing offences reported.
