CADAC TO PUT UP ONE-STOP-SHOP REHAB CENTER
THE City Anti-Drug Abuse Council (Cadac) eyes the creation of a
one-stop-shop rehabilitation center for drug users at the Department of
Social Services and Development (DSSD).
This plan was disclosed in Tuesday's Cadac 2nd Consultative Conference
involving the five pillars of the criminal justice system.
Mayor Luzviminda Valdez said as part of Cadac's anti-illegal drug advocacy
program, they agreed to go down to the lowest level of implementation
through the creation of the Barangay Anti-Drug Abuse Council (Badac).
Badac includes the organization of the streets per neighborhood and puroks,
house mapping of drug users and pushers and identifying the personalities
involved.
She added that an ordinance creating an Administrative Board to hear and
facilitate the rehabilitation of drug users will be proposed.
Valdez cited the plight of drug users worsen because they are being jailed
with hard-core criminals.
Gangs
Valdez also said gangs involved in illegal drugs have been identified and
neutralized by the Philippine National Office-Regional Office 6.
In a report, Senior Supt. Ricardo Jomuad, deputy regional director for
operations, disclosed five newly-identified criminal gangs on drugs.
The gangs are Cebuano Gang, Negros Occidental; Taguig Gang and Tulmo Gang,
both in Bacolod City; Bada Gang, Iloilo City and Paco Gang, Aklan.
Jomuad also disclosed 10 neutralized criminal gangs on drugs that are in
the police's target list.
The 10 gangs include Renandag Gang, Aklan; Wendell Garcia Gang, Iloilo
City; Rolly Magbanua Gang, Ledesma Gang, Guiron Gang, Joselito Gang and
Calunsang Gang, all from Negros Occidental; Julagting Gang and Ballenas
Gang, both from Antique and Zarate Gang, Guimaras.
