NOBODY CHOOSES TO BE AN ADDICT
Editor:
Re: Betty Nelson's letter of June 22 ('Here's hoping Mounties
maintain pressure'):

Does Nelson actually believe these women chose to be drug-addicted prostitutes?
A couple facts to consider about prostitution: Seventy to 80 per cent
of those involved in the Canadian sex industry began as children, and
80 to 95 per cent are fleeing sexual abuse that usually began at
home, according to a 1996 study by Kimberly Daum.
