DRUG LAWS LEAD TO DRUG CRIME
Re: Simple step to battling drugs, by Clint Hames, Mayor (June 26 2007)
Chilliwack's Mayor Clint Hames may well be outraged by the sale of
drug paraphernalia at the local convenience store, but I'll wager he
won't have to worry about raging against alcohol being sold in these
same types of stores any time soon. Why you ask? Because alcohol is a
legal and regulated substance sold only to carded adults.
I find it endlessly ironic that people like Clint Hames continue to
prop up and support a system that only perpetuates the very things he
rails against.
All of the crime associated with drugs and drug use would dry up over
night should the laws against drugs be repealed. No one wants
children having access to drugs, just like no one wanted children
having access to all that alcohol and going blind from bathtub gin
during prohibition. Get the drugs out of the hands of the criminals
and give us some control over them.
Repeal, educate and regulate. It's that simple man.
