VOTERS SHOULD EMBRACE BILL TO REDUCE BOARD
Hooray! Finally it looks like a good possibility that we voters will
have a chance to make a decision with regards to the size of the
County Board. Please support state Rep. Gregg Underheim and
Supervisors Bill Wingren and Mike Hert who are working on a state bill
that will give us the opportunity to replace the cumbersome and
unwieldy board that we have at present.
The County Board can be reduced in a very easy and effective fashion.
Simply combine the present districts in pairs, i.e. combine 1 and 2, 3
and 4, etc., and you have immediately cut the size of the board in
half. Nineteen county board members is quite sufficient. This way, we
should have some very interesting and lively campaigns as well. So let
these individuals know you support their efforts to make this change.
Also, there does not seem to be a justifiable reason for not
legalizing marijuana for medicinal purposes only. Opiates and their
derivatives are legal for medicinal use - and it seems that marijuana
should be available to those with a medical problem who require it for
relief.
