RSS STUDENTS TO SPIN DRUG ABUSE WHEELS OF FORTUNE AND MISFORTUNE

Local high school students are using trivia balloons and wheels of fortune
and misfortune this week to raise their consciousness about the danger of
drug abuse.

"We know what a difference awareness and involvement can make in changing
attitudes and reducing the harms associated with drug use," says Lory
Borges, Revelstoke Secondary School's prevention coordinator, of the Drug
Awareness Week activities.

She said in a statement that "a Wheel of Misfortune" game on Nov. 18 will
test students' knowledge of drug facts while "a Wheel of Fortune" game on
Nov. 19 will test their knowledge of correct road safety phrases. Winners
in each game will be rewarded, Borges said.

Then, on Nov. 20, students get to pop "trivia balloons" to win instant prizes.

"Events such as Drug Awareness Week focus the school community's attention
on the dangers of drug use," Borges said.
