MAN ELECTROCUTED
A Langley man died as a result of electrocution while tending to a
marijuana grow operation in Brookswood Sunday.
Around 10:30 p.m., Langley RCMP were called to join the Township fire
department who were responding to a man down. Upon arrival, they found a
44-year-old man who had died as a result of electrocution in a shed just
outside of his residence.
While police were inside the shed, a small pot grow operation, consisting
of approximately 200 plants, was discovered.
The plant operation appeared to be about one-and-one-half months old,
police said.
The Brookswoood man allegedly had gone out to tend to his plants around 7
p.m. After not returning for more than three hours, his wife went to check
on him and discovered his body.
Langley RCMP's drug section was called out to handle the marijuana
investigation, while the police victim services unit was called to provide
emotional support to the victim's family, which included children.
"People tend to think that growing marijuana is a quick way to make a few
bucks, but in fact it's a dangerous operation. The amount of electricity
required to make the plants grow and prosper is very dangerous," said media
relations officer Cpl. Christine Dinham-Jones.
Anyone with information about any marijuana grow operation should call the
Langley RCMP Drug Tip Line at 604-532-3304.
