WE'LL PROVE YOU WRONG
Editor: I am writing this letter in response to Mr. Wooldridge's letter (The
Times, Nov. 28).
My brother graduated from the D.A.R.E. program in 2001. I just graduated
three weeks ago. Cpl. Tomalty has volunteered many, many years of his time
to teach children the dangers of drugs and alcohol.
I strongly disagree with Mr. Wooldridge when he said the D.A.R.E. program
does not influence kids' use of drugs and alcohol.
Mr. Wooldridge, in my opinion, cannot speak on behalf of kids. I would like
Mr. Wooldridge to know that my brother and I have learned many ways to avoid
drugs and alcohol. Mr. Wooldridge, you were not in my class that Cpl.
Tomalty taught.
Because of Cpl. Tomalty's knowledgeable police experience, he has seen many
people who have suffered from using drugs and alcohol.
I am writing this letter because I want Cpl. Tomalty and Mr. Wooldridge to
know that the D.A.R.E. program does help and it is necessary.
I invite Mr. Wooldridge to come to Langley, B.C. and attend one of Cpl.
Tomalty's fun and worthwhile classes.
We will prove you wrong.
