U.S. FEARS RELAXED POT LAWS
Re: U.S. warns on pot bill (Dec. 10).
U.S. Ambassador Paul Cellucci stated, "Our concern is the perception of this
is that this is a weakening of the law ... that it will be easier to get
marijuana in Canada."
As far as I know, from talking to my friends here in the U.S. that smoke
marijuana, it is not difficult to obtain. I don't think decriminalizing
marijuana in Canada will do anything to effect the availability here in the
good ol' U.S. of A.
Personally, I think the U.S. government is afraid that decriminalization
will be a tremendous success and all of the horror stories will just be
fiction. That will make the U.S. drug policy look bad and we all know the
U.S. hates to look bad.
